Tentacles
What we have here is the latest poster I designed, it's for the front page of my portfolio, hence why my name is there instead of a band name. Hope you enjoy! There will be some process pictures of how I did the text in a while, as well as some new work.

Tattoo Time
The Blood, Sweat and Boards competition was this past weekend, I submitted the board from my previous post to the competition and came second! It was a great competition hosted by Underground Skateboards in Savannah. And along with my second prize comes a $1000 tattoo voucher from Stranded Tattoo also in Savannah. Yes!

Pretending to Skate
So I don't know how I have not posted this yet but I have finally remembered to. This will be belated to you all who have already seen this on facebook. But, here goes:
I designed this skateboard deck for an upcoming competition, I finished it a while ago and my good friend helped me photograph it with some insanely expensive camera. It's all done directly on the deck with microns and acrylic inks. I used clear gesso on the deck as well as sanded it smooth prior to any application so the ink did not bleed. Beware that drawing on a wood grain will eat up Micron pen nibs!

High on Fire Goodness
High on Fire is an awesome band, one of my favourites. So for my portfolio class I did a band poster for them. Here it is below with a bunch of detail shots I took. Everything was done traditionally with Microns on Arches hot press. I love that stuff.
There are two versions, one with red text and one with black. I'm still not sure which one I prefer the most. Time will tell.
Here you go!

Chapter Headings!
Did some chapter headings today while I wasn't paying too much attention in history class. These are for my portfolio class. They're chapters from Christopher Moore's novel entitled Fool. These are just rough sketches and I'll be finishing them up this weekend.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Foetus
I did an illustration for my friend Mel. All she said is that she wanted an illustration of a Foetus. So I obliged!

The Black Dahlia Murder
I finally have something post worthy, I will do my best to post more, to be honest I forget this blog sometimes. For a self initiated project over the break I decided to do a band poster for one of my favourite bands, The Black Dahlia Murder. I had a sketch in my moleskine for ages and then I finally got around to finishing it up.
I played around with pattern and line more than I have before, and I think this may be the most detailed piece I have done to date. In case you can't tell, it's a mutant elephant!
Below I have 3 variations, one without any text, one with red text, and another with white text. And then I have a couple of detail shots for you more dedicated viewers.
