The Black Dahlia Murder

I finally have something post worthy, I will do my best to post more, to be honest I forget this blog sometimes. For a self initiated project over the break I decided to do a band poster for one of my favourite bands, The Black Dahlia Murder. I had a sketch in my moleskine for ages and then I finally got around to finishing it up.

I played around with pattern and line more than I have before, and I think this may be the most detailed piece I have done to date. In case you can't tell, it's a mutant elephant!

Below I have 3 variations, one without any text, one with red text, and another with white text. And then I have a couple of detail shots for you more dedicated viewers.

Zombiefied!

I haven't updated in a while and I apologize for that, but now I finally have something worthy of posting. This is the finished product of the first project in my Advertising class. We had to design four sides of a tissue box, these images had to relate to tissues. I chose to show the use of tissues for someone going through the stages of turning into a zombie. I used my friend Bartos as the template for the zombie. I'm really happy with how it turned out and it looks even better in person.

Here are the images for each side of the box:

And here are 4 images of the tissue box itself. Sorry for the not so great photos. I need to get me some better quality lights.

So that's it for now, for our next project we're going to be drawing some dinosaurs!

I will soon have some illustrations for my book project to upload. I've been doing the storyboard and character desings up until now. Now I can finally dive into the illustrations and final text design.

Until then,

Cheerio!

Fumes

So I finished my new piece today. I'm stoked with how it came out. This was my first time actually using the masking fluid I bought over 2 months ago. Below are some of the pictures I took during the process.

This is the drawing with the masking fluid over it. I painted  over the paper outside of the smoke with rubber cement so the ink wouldn't go all over it.

Covered every surface with a towel so I was free to throw around the ink!

This is after I have finished all the ink work, next is to remove all the masking fluid and rubber cement.

This is the finished piece, I added in the shadow with a graphite pencil.

Hope you like it!

New Project!

I have decided to turn my attention to a t-shirt design that I have been thinking about for a while. I saw some cool looking factory chimneys with steam billowing out of them on our recent road trip, and wanted to do a t-shirt design inspired by that. So I drew up a sketch while watching TV last week and am now diving into the final piece. The sketch is below, the shirt will be pretty similar to this.
